Yorkston/Thorne/Khan – Sufi Song

Wow this is stunning. Gutted I’m not about for their Bath or Cardiff shows and don’t arrive at Celtic Connections til after they’ve played there. Might need to take a trip down to London for their show at Old Queens Head! Although I’m enjoying this and shall certainly grab the album when it’s released in January, I kind of feel like it needs to be experienced live for the full impact. I’d quite happily go and find out where they’re hanging out now and listen to them play all day.

The group is made up of: Scottish singer / songwriter / musician James Yorkston, who has a number of albums out on Domino (they shall also be releasing this album), including the Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) produced second album Just Beyond the River; Jon Thorne, the bass player for Lamb who has also worked with the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, CocoRosie, King Creosote, Trilok Gurtu and Mr Scruff; and award winning sarangi player and classical singer Suhail Yusuf Khan from New Delhi.
