NxWorries – Link Up

Anderson.Paak and Knxwledge are two artists that used to feature in our Chrome Kids shows a while back (when Paak was going by the name Breezy Lovejoy) and it’s refreshing to see them stepping out into the mainstream with some undoubtedly accessible music, without losing their heart or credibility.

Anderson.Paak in particular seems to be all over the place right now, I’m sure his appearance on the Dr Dre album Compton helped to raise his profile but there’s a bunch of other acts on that album that are nowhere near as prolific or in the public eye.

I saw him perform in London a little while back and despite the sea of overly amateur documentary makers on their phones that any industry sanctioned artist has to contend with these days, he put on an earnest and exuberant performance which managed to shake the crowd out of their own suffocating self consciousness, even though it was perhaps just for a moment.

In many ways, mostly for my own selfish reasons, I hope he doesn’t get any bigger than he is right now, but with tracks like this, I think it’s inevitable.
