Let’s face it, nothing really beats Reggae, Punk and Ska for speaking out on social issues, yet all of these genres (save for some of Punk’s offspring and a handful of Reggae acts) seem to be largely ignored by all save the most fringe of musical commentators. It’s a shame because there are some seriously strong and relevant releases about right now.
Surprisingly this latest offering from Rags Rudi feels a lot less political than their first album, but musically it’s still a fairly knees up mix of all the aforementioned styles, with a couple of lovely instrumental grooves to finish up on.
Despite having booked them for Boomtown in the past I’m yet to see these boys play live – on the strength of this though I have no doubt they’d be great fun to watch and this is a quality album that certainly deserves some shine. The artwork is great too.
