BOOMTOWN 2017 – PSYCHEDELIC

As well as a hefty line up of Psy-Trance favourites in the Psychedelic Forest and Tribe Of Frog (not to mention the rather more super charged Hitechnicians stage), we have a new addition to our Psychedelic areas this year, the Lost Tribes. The stage will mostly host a mixture of Psy-Dub, Ambient and Glitch artists, to give a much more chilled out element to the woodlands and the festival as a whole. I shall definitely be trying to catch some of the more Dub influenced artists such as these guys.

Gaudi

I managed to miss him last time, so this is a very welcome return to the Psychedelic Forest for me. Both of these tracks are actually from his 2013 album In Between Times which also features Lee Scratch Perry, The Orb and Deadly Hunta. I blogged previously about the remix version of the album which came out last year, featuring versions by Zion Train Dub Pistols, Deep Forest, and many more.

OTT & The All Seeing I

The live incarnation of OTT’s productions, which tend to explore the more dub and ambient side of electronic psychedelia. The band will be performing in the Psychedelic Forest but OTT will also be DJing in the new Lost Tribes area.

Dub Trees

A psychedelic Dub project from legendary producer Martin Glover, better known under the name Youth. Also a founding member of Killing Joke. Although this will be a DJ set from Youth rather than live, the wealth of talent involved with the project shouldn’t be overlooked. Original members include Jah Wobble from PiL, Matt Black from Coldcut and Michael Wadada from Suns Of Arqua.

Pitch Black

I don’t really know much about this pair from New Zealand, but one of them (Paddy Free) is the producer from Salmonella Dub and I’ve been a big fan of theirs for a while.

Quanta

A little bit closer to home, Quanta is based in Wales and is from the Shanti Planti collective. We also have fellow Welshman, Wolf Tech from the same crew.

Check the website for more information on our artists.
